Cogeneration and Renewable Energies



ENDESA has CHP/renewables installed capacity of 1,459 MW in Spain, of which 1,299 MW correspond to renewables technologies and 160 MW to cogeneration facilities.

In 2009, net output, adding cogeneration and renewable energy production, was 3,183 GWh.

Breakdown by technology

At year-end 2009, total installed wind capacity in which ENDESA has a stake was 1,086 MW, with an average ownership interest of 66%, or 718 MW. Two wind farms, with joint installed capacity of 70 MW, came onstream during the period.

The company also held stakes in 17 mini-hydro facilities, with total capacity of 83 MW.

The company has 14 MW of photovoltaic plants installed.

It also holds interests in five operational biomass and biogas plants, with installed capacity of 57 MW, and two waste treatment plants (Tirme and Tirmadrid) with joint capacity of 59 MW.

In the cogeneration business, it has interests in various facilities with total gross capacity of 159 MW.
